peg420420, listen to his reason — he bets out “small” to make it look like he’s trying to buy the pot, HOPING his headsup opponent shoves with a lower pair or two overs, thinking he’s ahead, of course he would call that shove being at least a 55% favorite, possibly more vs. just 2 overcards.
if you check, usually headsup he would check back, and if the heart or a low card comes you HAVE TO bet and he will fold. if a non-heart Q+ comes then you are basically screwed.
So BET the flop.

for me a pocket five guy is that imbecil which calls every raise with a small pair, even though the table has 3 cards that can make a pair bigger then his pocket pair.
And the irony is that very often that imbecil gets his trips. Those donks drive me nuts.
