Frequently Asked Questions
1. I’ve never played poker before. How should I get started?
The first step, obviously, is to learn the games. Therefore you need to
go to our beginner’s classes and read. Then, when you feel you know the
basic rules, you should practice at our tables by
downloading our software and registering. You can download and
register at the home page.
2. How long should it take me to learn before I can start playing?
It depends on your effort to learn, but basically you need to read the
beginners section and familiarize yourself with the basic rules and
ranking of hands. So, we are talking about a couple hours at the most.
3. How can I practice what I learned?
Download our free EmpirePoker Software from the link at the home
page. Select a game by clicking the appropriate tab on the Software
Lobby, choose a table, and click Join Table. Then take a seat and a
registration form will appear on your screen. Fill out the registration
form and you're all set. You'll literally be playing within minutes.
4. Which game should I start with?
Texas Hold’em is probably the game for you. The rules of Texas Hold’em
can be easily and quickly learned. And, it’s the most popular poker game
in the world today. The basic strategy for limit Hold’em is fairly
simple and is covered in the beginner’s lessons section. After learning
the basic strategy of limit, you can start to learn No limit holdem.
5. When should I move to advanced classes?
This is entirely up to you, but you should master the basics first
before trying to grasp new concepts. If you try to do fancy moves at
poker without really understanding the basics, chances are you will mess
up more than if you just played without any concrete strategy. Practice
the basics for at least a week before moving to the advanced classes.
6. Is this poker school for free?
Yes, completely free!
7. What do I do to begin playing?
Download our free EmpirePoker Software. Select a Game by clicking
the appropriate tab on the Software Lobby, choose a table, and click

literally be playing within minutes
8. I play poker, but not online poker. What are the differences? Is
it better?
Online poker differs from the classic poker for five main reasons.
First, it’s always there. You don’t need to plan or find some players
and tables to join. You just go to the Internet and play with thousands
of real players from all around the world! The second reason is that it
is much easier to win money. There are fewer sharks in the online pool
and if you know what you are doing you can be the shark yourself!
Furthermore, online poker is also much faster than classic poker. About
twice as many hands are dealt per hour, allowing you to play more poker
in less time. Online poker is also much ‘cheaper’ than classic poker.
The rake is much lower and you don’t have to tip the dealer. Finally,
online poker tends to have more variety than classic poker. If you go to
your local casino, chances are they only have up to maybe ten tables.
Since people play online poker from all around the world, many different
poker games are played, and at a wide variety of limits.
