i need a formula for poker odds in holdem that takes into account suit and card type (2-ace)
also (if you can) how i could tweak the formula to change the amount of cards in your own hand and the “community hand”. I made up my own poker game similar to Texas hold ‘em and i have added some new hands to it and i need to know which are harder to get so i can rank them higher

Best answer:

Answer by Trevor
Use the Rule of 4 and 2 (not 2 and 4 like some people say). use this video and learn from a great poker player named Phil Gordon. ive been playing Holdem for a 4 years now, since i was 15, and i always use the Rule of 4 and 2.

When do you know when you need free Texas Hold Em Lessons? The answer is simple: when you realize that you want to play Texas Hold Em.

Playing Texas Hold Em poker requires more than just luck to win. It requires proper strategies and technique-something that you don’t learn overnight.

You might think that making fast decisions is pretty easy. Sure it is, you can fold or bluff anytime that you want but the consequences always matter.

The secret to winning Texas Hold Em poker is learning how make RIGHT split second decisions without compromising your cards and your bank roll.

Let me give you some lessons that you will need when you sit down the table for FREE:

Free Texas Hold Em Lessons # 1:

Learn the rules of thumb. You need to learn general guidelines about specific situations so you will know what you should do when “that situation” happens to you.

Do not feel nagged. Every poker newbie goes through this phase. When you are seasoned enough, then you can make your own rules so you can make fast decisions when you are engaged in a particular hand.

Free Texas Hold Em Lessons #2:

Know your opponents. The art of war states that you should know the terrain and where your enemy stands in order for you to win. That’s practically the same thing with Texas Hold Em. You have to learn how your opponents behave.

When do they fold? When do they bluff? How do you know that they are bluffing or not? It would be best to observe their mannerisms and body movement because these tell a lot if they are getting anxious about their hand or not.

Free Texas Hold Em Lessons #3:

Spend less time betting. Of course, this can only be done if you will have general guidelines or standard betting strategies. When you have these, you will be able to minimize your check and calls and should only focus more on raising and folding.

Sitting around thinking about how much to bet merely wastes time and shows your opponents that you really have no idea what to do. A quick, strong bet is very powerful and indicative of holding a great hand.

Free Texas Hold Em Lessons #4:

Do not play beyond your bank roll. This is something that most poker players do not master so they end up in debt.

If you don’t want to experience the same thing, you should learn when you should get up the table and let the rest of night fly by without you raising more than your bank account will allow.

Oh, and never stop searching for and reading more Free Texas Holdem Lessons.

No limit hold em is exploding in popularity. Before 2000, it could be difficult to find a game. In 2006, it is played everywhere in casino cardrooms, in bar backrooms and homes, and on the Internet.
Now anyone can find a game, but few know how to play well. Most players learn by watching television or by listening to dubious advice from their friends. While they may have picked up a valuable tidbit here or there, most players come to the table without a winning plan. These players have two options: wise up or go broke.
The world s foremost poker theorist, David Sklansky, and noted poker authority, Ed Miller, will wise you up quickly. No Limit Hold em: Theory and Practice is the definitive work on this complex game. It provides you a window into the heads of experts, teaching you in straightforward and enjoyable terms the how s and why s of winning play.
It covers critical concepts like manipulating the pot size, adjusting correctly to stack sizes, winning the battle of mistakes, reading hands, and manipulating opponents into playing badly. It teaches you about implied odds and how to size your bets and raises effectively. It even covers many principles of short stacked play that will give you a big edge in no limit hold em tournaments.
Never before have so many people played no limit hold em, and never before has there been so much opportunity to win big. If you want your share of the spoils, read this book!
