I am not a beginner but I am not a pro. I want to play for money but only want to deposit 40 bucks. Do you think it would be better to play the 1/2 dollar cash tables or a 10 dollar tournament? Does it even matter?

I play online poker on Poker Stars .com. I play in play money tournaments. Some of the tournaments I play in say that the top 27 get to participate in another tournament for a shot to win $1,000. Is that fake money or if you win is that real money that you get?
