The Guide to No Limit Texas Holdem

Poker would be thought of as a means to have fun -guys sitting around the kitchen table drinking and after a hard week at work just relaxing. They would never imagine it to be a game that requires skill, strategy and training. Texas holdem especially, poker is all about it . It can be classified along with games like black jack and roulette , can it ever be won, is there a way actually? And consistently?

The answer to this is well yes! You can win and make a nice pot of money playing Texas Holdem. And this is not just extra money I’m talking about; there are people who are so good that they make their living playing poker. Now, getting to this situation is not everybody’s cup of tea, but you can definitely win at the game with a few easy pointers in mind.

Texas Holdem is not gambling…
To start off, always keep in mind that Texas Holdem is very different from regular gambling. While you are playing against the house in games like black jack and roulette, Holdem has you playing against ‘other’ players.

The more you play Holdem, the more you will find skilled and experienced players still considering it to be a game of luck. Now this could work out great for you. How? Let’s see. In a game of Texas Holdem, you have no way of telling what cards you or the other players will get. In the game there are a lot of unexplained variables. This uncetain game can be played with a degree of certanity to some extent though this is not like chess or checkers or reverse.

It’s all in the numbers…
Contrary to players saying luck governing Texas Holdem, it is actually math that holds all the ropes. That means even if a player gets lucky during the game, the influence of numbers is harsh enough to bring them flying back to reality.

So the next logical question is, how much can a player actually win at Holdem? Too general is the answer. But experts on poker say that winning a big bet an hour is very reasonable in limit Holdem. For instance if a $5/10 game is being played and if it is carried on for about 100 hours, then $1000 is earned by you.

This assumption is a very general one which I would like to emphasize again. Your skill and the ability of your oponents will actually decide on your winning. This cannot be the same in every game. If you are good at playing limit Holdem, then you could win much more than that in an hour. Your opponents are also who have the same skill, information and experience as you which should be remembered as you go higher up in the ranks. The game is made much harder by this. Certanity lies in the numbers in front of you was told by me for the same reason.

Types of Holdem…
Besides limit Holdem, you can also play pot limit, no limit as well as tournament play. There’s no accurate means of saying how much money a player can win in all these types of Holdem, but pot limit and no limit definitely have much higher stakes than the limit version. So you make more but risk more as well. You can also play tournaments but you must be ready to shell out as much as $10,000 for a buy-in if you want to win the first prize in the World Series of Poker – a cool two million dollars!

Summary…
Just remember that you can always win at Texas Holdem. You definitely have a much better shot at winning the pot if you are playing with opponents who consider the game to be akin to gambling or who think their trick would be done by luck. And always watch out for the experienced players and the novices – that affects your chances as well.
